Once you drink the wine – you don’t want to let the fun end there! Saving your gorgeous custom wine bottles is easy and fun to do. I love using them for mantel decor, table centerpieces, and a way to hold special mementos. Read below to put those empty custom wine bottles to use!
When my friends got engaged, I gave them a Basket of Firsts. I filled a basket with delicious Merlot and photos of them. They loved enjoying the personalized wine bottles throughout their first year of marriage. Now that the wine is gone – they wanted to keep all the memories of the custom wine bottles. I carefully rinsed out the bottles (the wine labels are water “resistant” but I wouldn’t splash water directly onto them.) I cut some flowers short and added them to the bottles. Now they have beautiful vases to set as a centerpiece!
I recently went on two amazing trips and gathered sand from the beaches I visited. The sand has just been sitting in some plastic bags for months. (I upgraded to a bowl for this photo!)
I had two birthday wine bottles where the wine had come and gone so I rinsed them carefully with water and let them drain for a couple hours. When they were fully dry inside, I grabbed a funnel and poured the sand into the personalized wine bottles. It was about 5 cups of sand to fill them! (If you have tiny shells – they’d fit inside too!)
The personalized wine bottles are full and now they stand as a constant reminder of two amazing trips I was lucky to take recently.
Light It Up
I upgraded my sand wine bottles one step further. With these adorable cork candles – the sand etched wine bottles are transformed into an awesome candle. As the candles melt, the wax drips along the side and seals the wax candle onto the wine bottle.
Hopefully I’ve given you more reasons to chug those half empty wine bottles you have lying around and get to repurposing them!
